"Huwag Kang Mangamba” - God Also Sings Love Songs

God also sings love songs. (And we can also sing love songs back to Him.)

After all, He is the Creator of music and musical hearts. He is the Creator of all things beautiful. He is Beauty itself.

Listening to God sing His songs is a way of soothing the soul, of comforting our spirits, especially when we need it the most. Especially when we need Him most.

The past year has been one of the most challenging times that we who are living have been experiencing. Our lives have drastically changed, not for the better, and on all fronts. Deaths, sickness, loss of sources of livelihood, children trying to learn outside the normal school environment, curtailment of certain basic civil and religious freedoms by a few wealthy and powerful groups of people, evil forces canceling the voices of the good, have confronted us.

We do not know when these will end.

Who then do we to turn to? For believers, it is to God, the Creator of the universe and of Man, the One Who truly loves us. God is Love.

In the face of all this darkness, the Lord tells us: "Do not be afraid" ("Huwag kang mangamba"). In our helplessness, weakness, temptations to despair and loss of hope, it is precisely at this time that we need to turn to Him and listen to His voice. God sings love songs that will soothe our souls, strengthen us in our hope that all will be well in accordance with His plan.

One such song, "Huwag Kang Mangamba" (Be Not Afraid) (video on this page), has been touching the hearts of people for God.

For non-Filipinos here is the English translation of the song:

Do not be afraid, you are not alone

I'll go with you, no matter where you go

You are precious in my eyes

I love you, I love you

I have called you by your name

You are mine forever

I am your Lord and God

Savior and Redeemer

I will rescue you from the water

I will save you from the fire

I am your Lord and God

Savior and Redeemer

Do not be afraid, you are not alone

I'll go with you, no matter where you go

You are precious in my eyes

I love you, I love you

After we have listened to God's song, we can sing back to Him. In this song, based on Psalm 62 (video on this page), we acknowledge Who He is in our lives:

In God alone will my soul find rest

From Him comes my hope and salvation

O God You are my refuge, my glory is in You

You alone are my hope, my fortress and shield

In God alone will my soul find rest

From Him comes my hope and salvation

I will not put trust in plunder

I will not set my heart on riches

Only in God Who is powerful,

my Strength and Refuge

In God alone will my soul find rest

From Him comes my hope and salvation

Lord, You are full of goodness,

A Shepherd Who loves His flock

Who leads them to verdant pastures

Who seeks the sheep whenever they are lost

In God alone will my soul find rest

From Him comes my hope and salvation

It is good for us to sing this song of praise and thanksgiving for Who God is to us. Much in life we do not understand. We can only trust in Him.

We believe that all these trials of life will pass away, and His love and grace will pull us through. In the end, we will have only happiness, love, and peace in the place He has prepared for us, the place where He dwells!

It is only in Him that we will find rest! #

“Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." (John 14;1-3)
