Libera's Sounds of Music

Music, it is said, is the universal language. It is the language of the heart, of the soul. When one discovers a special kind of music that appeals to him, it's like finding a hidden treasure, or a precious pearl.

My discovery of the music of "Libera," a boys choir from England, on YouTube is something that I feel I must share.

It is amazing how beautiful music can touch your heart, lift up your spirits, and put you in a prayerful, meditative mood, especially when you are alone preparing to retire for the night.

Such is the music of the "Libera" young singers.

Not only the lyrics, not only the music of the songs, but also the beautiful angelic voices of the boys, singing apparently effortlessly and with perfect blending and harmony of their voices, and with the beautiful orchestra accompaniment, put you there . . . in your own thoughts and feelings, lofty and sacred and beautiful, making you feel God talking to your heart and finding yourself talking back to Him from that very same heart . . . and mind.

This is a video of one of the Libera Boys concerts. There are many more on YouTube. What you hear will make you realize there is something more than the worldly, the mundane. There is the heavenly, too. And heaven is beautiful, happy, and satisfies.

Here's another one:

My words cannot adequately describe the experience of listening to and watching them perform. Suffice it to say that the songs of these young boys can lead you to a contemplation of the beauty that is God, and a longing to be with Him forever.

Watch and listen for yourselves, and you will know what I mean!#

Psalm 96

1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

"He who sings prays twice." -- St. Augustine
