What's It All About, Alfie?
They had implemented their death sentence. But the innocent victim continues to fight for his life. His parents have refused to give up. Good-hearted people have been supporting them.
A country gave him citizenship so that he could be brought to another hospital to take another look and give him a chance. An air ambulance is ready and waiting to bring him to the Bambino Gesu Hospital in Rome. But that government would not release him, although they cannot do anything more for him. (At this writing, the High Court rejected the family's appeals to transfer him to the hospital in Italy.)
Please pray for Alfie and his parents.
In honor of Alfie and his parents, I have changed a little bit the wording of an old song containing his name:
What's It All About, Alfie?
"What's it all about, Alfie? Is it men that decide who should live? What's it all about when we sort it out, Alfie? Are we not meant to give more than we give? Or are we not meant to be kind? But being kind is not foolish, Alfie, And I'm sure it's wise not to be cruel. And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie, What would happen to the old golden rule? As sure as we believe there's a heaven above, Alfie, We know there's something much more, Something even non-believers can believe in. We believe in love, Alfie. Without true love we just exist, Alfie. Until we find the love we've missed we're nothing, Alfie. When we walk let our hearts lead the way And we'll find love any day, Alfie, Alfie."
God bless you and your admirable family, Alfie!!
And keep fighting!!!#

[Edited] Little Alfie Evans, a British child just starting his life and seriously sick, was sentenced to death by people who have vowed to heal him and, failing, chose to prescribe death by unplugging his life support. The same was ordered by human beings in power who assumed they had the power to decide who should live and who should die. The Holy Father had reminded the world – including the hospitals and courts that perpetrated the deed – that the only master of life is God.
They had implemented their death sentence, but the innocent victim continues to fight for his life. His parents have refused to give up. Good-hearted people have been supporting them.
